pH Test Strips and Water Treatment Products

In order to determine these levels, you’ll need to use a water test kit, or pH test strips.
Once you know where these levels are currently sitting, you can add the needed products to bring them back to their ideal levels, such as pH up or down, alkalinity up, and your sanitizer.
So, what should these levels be?
The ideal levels for pH and alkalinity are as follows:
pH: 7.4 and 7.6
ALKALINITY: between 100 and 130 ppm
Your sanitizer levels, however, will depend on the sanitizer you’re using. With chlorine being the most commonly used option, and bromine being a close second, we’ll provide the levels for either of these options below.
CHLORINE: between 1 and 3 ppm, with 3 pm being the most ideal
BROMINE: 3 and 5 ppm
Some other water treatment products you should include are:
- Calcium hardness increaser
- Stain remover
- Algaecide
- Shock
