How To Incorporate Hydrotherapy Into a Busy Routine – 4 Steps

Finding time to relax and unwind isn’t always easy. From work and family commitments to daily chores, it can be hard to get in any ‘me’ time.

Taking time out to relax not only benefits your health, but it can also improve your mood and outlook overall.  And one of the best ways to incorporate this into your life is with hydrotherapy. Also known as hot tub therapy, hydrotherapy is good for your mind and body.

Let’s take a look at some of the best ways to sneak in a daily dose of spa relaxation.

1. Start the Day in Your Spa

Nothing starts the day out right quite like a soak in the hot tub. If you’re in the habit of waking before the rest of the household, take advantage of the quiet to have a relaxing 20-minute dip.

Getting in some hydrotherapy first thing in the morning not only helps you get rid of stiffness from lying in bed all night but it offers you a natural mood boost for the day ahead, too.

The quiet time also gives you a chance to plan your day so you can face the challenges ahead feeling confident and refreshed.

2. Take Your Workout to the Hot Tub

If you’re in the habit of working out, you can combine your physical activity with your hot tub. From jogging and walking in place to aerobics and strength training, there are many exercises that can be done in the water.

For increased energy and range of motion, try doing some stretching exercises once your muscles have warmed. When done on a regular basis, this can increase your overall flexibility.

3. Make Spa Time Family Time

Your hot tub is the perfect place to have family time. Not only does this give you a chance to relax together, but you can catch up with your spouse and kids.

This low-key setting is great for talking with your teens and finding out what is happening in their lives. It also works for younger children. You can chat or play games when they get bored of talking.

There are a number of fun games you can play from musical jets (a new take on the classic musical chairs) to catch to more relaxing games like ‘I Spy’ or ‘Who am I?’

4. Choose Your Health Over Screen Time

After a long hard day, it’s easy to zone out in front of the TV or on the Internet. But there’s a better way to truly relax your mind and body — and that’s with some hydrotherapy.

So once dinner, the dishes and kids are taken care of for the night, why not head to the hot tub and let the stresses of the day melt away? A 20- to 30-minute dip will relax your muscles and help you to de-stress.

Be sure to be out of the hot tub at least an hour before bed to allow your body’s core temperature to drop. That cooling process will prepare your body for a good night’s rest.
